I’ve Met My Spirit Vehicle, She’s a 2016 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring.

One big lesson that I’ve been teaching myself these past four and a half months is how to be content with what one has. Of course this lesson almost went completely out the window as I drove around in the brand new 2016 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring for a week. I was immediately smitten by the Soul Red paint color and squealed with delight upon seeing the rich black leather interior with the red stitching. Can you tell I’m a sucker for details?  While I love all of the good physical bells and whistles like the rain sensing windshield wipers (um, mind blown!), sunroof (makes having natural hair worth it), and a navigation system that when not active still displays the cross streets you pass. One of main details I look for in a new car is great gas mileage. This is especially important with an CUV.  The 2016 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring gets 24 City and 30 Highway mpg of course comes equipped with the SkyActiv Technology. To put her to the test my husband and I did tons of exploring around neighboring city’s within PA as well as visited the outlets. I received the car on a Wednesday only had to get gas on the following Tuesday evening . Color me impressed! Being Melody, DriveSTI, Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring 2016, DriveMazda

Some of the new features for the 2016 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring include: a New grille and new foglight surround design  Upgraded center console, dashboard and armrest design, Added electronic parking brake ,  Addition of MAZDA CONNECT Infotainment System with larger seven-inch full- color touchscreen display and multi-function commander control. I really loved the center console with the controls. It’s also a great saftey feature which keeps you from playing with the touch screen while driving. With the push and twist of a button you can control your phone, music and loads of other options.

I also couldn’t get enough of the i-ACTIVESENSE. This was much needed for driving in Philadelphia traffic. Mazda’s Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) helps detect vehicles approaching from the blind spot areas at the sides and rear. BSM also incorporates Mazda’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) function, which alerts the driver when it detects vehicles approaching from either side as the driver backs up. – Available Smart Brake Support (SBS) helps avoid frontal collisions or minimize damage when travelling mid- to high-speed by automatically braking when the vehicle senses an emergency ahead. – Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) is an available feature that automatically controls the vehicle speed to maintain the safe following distance in accordance with the target speed set by the driver

So lets talk about seating. Like most CUV’s the interior is pretty spacious. Especially if you’re the driver or sitting in the front passanger side. However, one of my concerns with my last CUV was the space or lack thereof in the back seat. Some of my family members are pretty tall, especially my husband. Once he sits comfortably in the front seat there is usually little leg room left for whomever has to sit behind him. Since it’s just him and I right now we usually don’t have to worry about someone sitting in the back seat other than our dogs, but as I like to keep vehicles until the wheels fall off this is a concern for me should we have kids and they inherit my husbands height.

Overall: I really enjoyed the 2016 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring. I enjoyed it so much that I sat down and calculated how much may payments would be if I traded my current vehcile in. This is definitely a luxury car with a not so luxury price. I still can’t believe that you get so many features in a vehicle that retails for less than $30K. Everything about Mazda CX-5 fit my personality so well. I seriously love the spacious trunk is as now that I have a sedan I seem to be needing a roomier trunk now more than I did when I had a CUV. My anniversary and birthday are both  coming up, maybe I can convince my husband to buy a big bow!

Have you test drove the 2016 Mazda CX-5? If you haven’t head over to your local Mazda dealership and take it for a test drive, test out some of the amazing features and walk away with keys to your new car in hand!

First off, THE COLOR! LOOOOVE. I love how much room there is in the trunk! I’ve seen these cars around town, but thought they were on the small side. But looking at your review, I might have to reconsider when it comes time for my next car!

Oh my goodness you look amazing in your new car. That color is HOT!! I would love to have a car that has the blind spot sensor as well, as I have a lengthy commute each morning in very heavy downtown traffic. I will definitely check this out when it’s time for me to get a new car!

I love the color of the car you drove! The trunk looks so spacey, that is a must have for us with how much we do day trips and traveling. SUVs are perfect for us with the weather in our area which can be crazy.

My first car, many years ago was a Mazda. It held up well for a long time. I haven’t tried the brand since though. They’ve gone through several shifts and I’d love to see how the cars handle now. Gas mileage, tight handling, and a supreme sound system are keys for me.

This car looks awesome! I love your style by the way – and great shot in the trunk. Which has a ton of space! I really love CUV’s…best of everything.

I have a friend with the CX5, and it is SO roomy. She had a leather interior and it was so comfortable. I need to upgrade my vehicle soon, and this is one awesome car!

Thank you for posting this. This is a great shot of the trunk. I was researching this vehicle and stumbled across your blog. Are you still enjoying it? I have two toddlers and travel everywhere with a double stroller, will this truck hold my double stroller and groceries?
