Jada and Purina ProPlan Bright Minds. Jada came into my life when she was nine weeks old. While I had several dogs in the past I knew nothing of raising a puppy, let alone raising a puppy on my own. I received Jada as an early Christmas gift over the Thanksgiving Holiday break. My mom jokingly called her “the gift that keeps on giving” as we both knew a puppy was going to be a handful. After the break Jada and I made our trek back to North Carolina where I was finishing up a Master’s Program. As soon as we arrived back at my apartment the little ball of fur immediately let me know that she did not appreciate being in a crate during my 3hr drive back home. I know then that this was not going to be an easy transition for either of us as she showed me early that I would have to fight for my position as Alpha female of the house.  IMG_3900

Fast forward 7 years and another state later and Jada is still here with me as I now finish up my Ph.D. She’s a trooper dealing with my sporadic schedule, of coming and going, but she’s always excited to greet me whenever I walk into the door. While I’m sharpening my mind, I want to make sure that Jada’s mind stays sharp as well. According to experts at Purina Pro Plan, around age seven, the glucose metabolism in a dog’s brain begins to change, which can affect memory, learning, awareness or decision making. I’d noticed that Jada wasn’t always her usual feisty self and sometimes her burst of energy came in spurts, but I chalked that up to her just being tired of always playing with our other dog. I was excited I found out that Purina Pro Plan discovered a way to promote alertness and mental sharpness in dogs 7+ through nutrition and has introduced BRIGHT MIND Adult 7+ formulas.

Jada loves to eat, so transitioning here from her old dog food to the Purina ProPlan Bright Mind was pretty simple. During the first week, we slowly introduced the Bright Mind dog food into her diet by mixing in small amounts in the beginning. As the week went on we began to phase out her old dog food while giving her more of the Bright Mind. I actually think she preferred the Bright Mind over her other dog food as she would get super excited whenever I asked if she was ready to eat and didn’t even wait for me to feed our other dog before she started chowing down. Purina ProPlan Bright Mind contains enhanced botanical oils shown to promote alertness and mental sharpness in dogs seven and older. Owners who feed their dog Purina Pro Plan Bright mind as part of a daily diet may notice some great changes in their pets like differences in owner-dog interaction, interest in play and the ability to adapt and cope with change.

Since Jada has dining on the Purina ProPlan Bright Mind dog food I hope to see that her feistiness will come back. Jada would always play with the toys in her toy box, but now she’d rather lounge than see what I newly added. Seeing her become more energetic and playful will be something the entire family will be happy to see, including our other dog who would loved to give Jada  run for her money You can pick up ProPlan Bright Mind at your local Petsmart. The displays surrounding the food are bright and colorful so you can’t miss it! We took Jada along with us to PetsSmart for a special trip “big girl” trip and she really enjoyed it. You can check out some of the scenes in the video below.

Jada looks like she really enjoyed her trip to PetSmart…and she apparently likes to spell with her food, too! I have a pup who has been with me through masters and PhD, too…and now he’s becoming an old man. I’ll have to check out this food! Thanks! #client
