I’m Getting Rid of All My Handbags

I have/had quite an extensive handbag collection. Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Tory Burch, 3.1 Phillip Lim you name it I probably owned it or it was on my list of bags to own. You could’ve just called me the handbag queen, and I would have promptly responded “Hey Girl!” with a big smile on my face. I even went as far as to transform one of our old Ikea Bookshelves into a handbag closet using some shutters I found at Homegoods. I had spray painted the doors metallic silver. Purchased some cute knobs and had my… View Post

Fashion Friday: Coffee Break

There’s always time for coffee. I can’t believe it’s already August, more importantly, I can’t believe summer is almost over and I actually survived by barely purchasing anything new for the season. If you’ve been following our journey to become debt free over on the site Live Broke on Purpose then you know I’ve talked about being addicted to shopping and how that’s something I’ve been struggling hard to overcome. At the beginning of the summer, all I could think was that I needed a new summer handbag, but after going through my purse closet (which I’m slowing in the process… View Post

Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone

I’m sharing #LISTERINE in my life as part of a LISTERINE® sponsored series for Socialstars™ If you’ve been hanging out with me here at Being Melody than you know that I’ve teamed up with Listerine to talk about how you can bring out the bold in your everyday life. This year one of my goals was to get out of my comfort zone in all areas of my life. I want to get into public speaking, I want to take my business further, and I wanted to start loving and accepting my body more. I’ve done well on the whole… View Post

Once You Stop Living You Start Aging

“When you stop living is when you stop aging.” Are you surprised as I am that I’m actually sorta consistent with my fashion post? My capsule wardrobe is kinda non-existent for the summer, but I’m making it work and being creative. Amongst all the talk about crucial issues on Twitter like Black Lives Matter and the conversation on deescalating interactions with the Police so that our African American men and women make it home, there was a light-hearted conversation about how people born in the 80’s were officially old.  I was born in the early 80’s and while I do… View Post

I chose to utilize a capsule wardrobe this year because I needed to add as much simplicity to my life this year as possible. While I’ve loved every bit of it, I really didn’t think through how much losing weight would affect my capsule wardrobes… View Post

Weight loss and Preparing for Something Greater.

This is not a sponsored post but only my genuine journey to win back control of my life. -Photo Credits: April Pershing Weight loss. It’s something I’ve talked about several times on this platform. Each year I try, make a little progress and then regress back to where I was. This time, I knew it was going to be different. It had to be different. I think the turning point for me was during the holidays when I realized that I couldn’t keep a watch on because it was just too tight. I honestly think I had a small anxiety… View Post

A Great pair of Jeans Always Completes my “Uniform”.

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Levi’s® for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine. If you asked me to describe my style it could easily be done with two words, “Comfy Cute.” Don’t get me wrong I’ll throw on some pumps and slay an outfit in a heartbeat, but for the most part, I want to look good and feel good at the same time. I don’t have enough time to pay attention to trends or worry about what other people are wearing. I just want to wear comfortable things and look nice while doing… View Post
