MAC X Taraji Collection Review and Swatches on Medium Brown Skin

MAC has done several celebrity collections, but nothing and I mean not one thing piqued my interest more than seeing that there was going to be an upcoming MAC X Taraji P. Henson collection!!! If watching her flawlessly play Cookie on Empire wasn’t enough now I get to rock Taraji inspired makeup on my face?? This is where I can’t even…  I love Taraji. She’s supportive of other women and their achievements, she’ll tell it like it is with a smile on her face, and she’s absolutely gorgeous. I know I’m not the only one lusting over her cheekbones.  Basically, Taraji is the girlfriend we all wished we had, but now you can at least rock her confidence  on your face with the new MAC x Taraji collection that is set to be released online September 6th and in stores September 8th.

I was sent a few pieces of the collection for early review. The collection contains two Mineralize Skin Finishes, a lipstick, eyeliner, and mascara. I was strictly here for the newer items, one of the skin finishes and the lipstick. The mascara and eye liner are repromotes from previous collections.

Taraji Glow Mineralize Skinfinish $33 is described as a peachy coral with a golden shimmer. This product is more of a deeper peach and can come off a bit red depending on how much you use. It has a subtle golden shimmer that can be seen when the light hits it just right. It really added a nice pop of color to my NC45 skin. I feel this product would be even more gorgeous if you swept some  MAC Gold Deposit Skin Finish right at the top of the cheeks to give it an extra pop.

The other Mineralize Skin Finish is called Highlight My Truth, it’s also a peachy coral but this one has more a pink shimmer to it. I’m sure it’s just as gorgeous as this one and I will definitely be adding it to my collection once it launches.

Strip Me Down is the sole lipstick in this collection and honestly, in my opinion, it’s more than enough. It’s a muted brown that to me kind of has a mauve undertone as you can definitely see some of the pink. Wear wise it holds up for about 3-4 hours if you’re eating and drinking. It’s not as drying as the retro mattes and seemed a bit more moisturizing than the normal mattes you find throughout the MAC collection.

To give the lipstick a bit more depth I paired it with MAC Cork Liner, but you could totally pair it with MAC’s Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in “Nice N Spicy” to create a seamless look as this particular pencil and lipstick are almost identical in color. Below are a few pictures of me wearing the products so you can get an idea of how they look on.
