The Best Shades of Orange Blush for Brown Skin

The Best Shades of Orange Blush for Women of Color

[ad name=”In Content Responsive Ad”]

Many people don’t believe me when I tell them that Orange is a universal shade that works for Woman of Color. It’s almost as taboo as saying that all women can wear red lipstick, which they can. Plus I’ve already shown you how to rock a fabulous red lip like Taylor Swift in this post. Orange is a power color so I can see why it can be intimidating to wear. On darker skin tones, the color Orange truly shows it’s powered as it enhances even the deepest of browns helping the skin to look youthful and alive. One rule of thumb to keep in mind when wearing orange is that the lighter you are the less color you’ll need. My collection of Orange blushes is pretty large and ranges from shocking oranges to light corals as I try to keep hues on hand that can be worn throughout the entire year.

Like Reds, orange blush comes in many different undertones and finding the perfect one for you will just take a little experimenting. When picking an orange blush pick one that is opposite the color of undertones in your skin. To learn your undertones look on the inside of your wrists, or at the palms of your hands. They will either be yellow or pink. If your skin has more yellow/gold undertones try out a peachy coral. If your skin has cooler undertones try out an orange that has bluer undertones. Don’t be afraid of the bright bold color as they look gorgeous on women with darker skin tones like Lupita Nyong’o. If you find yourself to be more of my complexion your right in the middle and any shade will work for you.  Below I’ve listed nine shades of orange blush that I love. While this not a complete list of orange blushes I hope that you can find a color you love and wear it proudly.

I honestly never wear blush, but this has me reconsidering. The Milani packaging looks cute, but the Mabelline is probably easiest for me to apply.

I love peach- and orange-based blushes. My favourite is probably Givenchy Le Prisme blush in In Vogue Orange. There are four hues of orange so I can deepen or lighten the orange as I like.

I just started wearing orange blush last summer because I loved how it gave me a summer glow. Honestly I never even considered wearing orange blush until I recieved it in my IPSY bag. Now I can’t wait for spring/summer to come along to start rocking my orange blush again! I’m going to go look more into the MAC, Milani, and Nars blushes!!!

I’ve always heard that orange is the best blush color for dark skin. Great list of products, I will have to give at least one or two of them a try.
