2017 is going to be a big year for me as I will finally be graduating with my doctorate. I don’t think it hit me until last Monday when I realized that it was all finally coming to an end and anxiety bomb rushed me. I feel like now I’m just a huge ball of “what next?”. I’m walking around with a fake smile on my face when I’m slowly dying inside with fear of the unknown.  Times like these I’m so glad I have Being Melody as an outlet to escape all that. It’s the little things that make me happy, like trying out new makeup, which is why I’m excited to share with you all the latest product release from L’Oreal Paris!

When I first got my hands on the L’Oreal Paris Infallible Paints Lipcolors, I assumed from the shape of the packaging that they were going to be some type of gloss/lipstick mix but more on the sheer side. Instead, they’re these super saturated lipsticks/paints that go on smooth and dry down to a moist lacquer like finish. They sort of remind me of the NARS Cosmetics Velvet Lipglides but with bolder colors.

There are 14 shades in this collection, and I was sent five for review purposes. The upside of working on my dissertation is that it allows me to wear test lip products, you know with tons of coffee and snacks. After a few rounds of testing, I found that while these lip paints go on bold and vibrant, they start to sheer out as time goes on. The designer applicator has a pointed tip which gives you the ability to outline your lips and then fill in the rest. I find that if you wait a second to let the outline set before filling in you get a better finish. Also, if you can help it don’t purse your lips together when applying as you, I found that doing so will leave your lip color looking a bit sheer. Reapplication after eating is a must, but the upside is that they don’t dry your lips out. To give them more staying power I would suggest possibly priming your lips with a lip primer so that the lip paint has something to adhere to.

Final Thoughts/Where to Buy

My favorite shades out of the five I tried were Navy and Taupeless with Bewitching Bordeaux following close behind. I think these lip paints are pretty fun and they don’t dry out your lips, a point which is a huge game winner for me. You can even mix them together to create your own custom lip color.
