2016 Beauty, Fashion, and Lifestyle Goals

2016 Beauty Fashion and Lifestyle Goals

Okay, so you guys now  had to do an obligatory New Years Resolution Post. Last year my main resolution was to step out on faith and turn my blog into more of a lifestyle blog. I succeeded in this and had so many amazing opportunities come my way. I traveled to New Orleans, worked with some amazing brands, and even started a business called Broke on Purpose

So, now that I’ve basically recapped 2015 let’s talk about my goals for 2016. I’m calling them goals instead of resolutions because to me the word “goals” holds more power. I’m a firm believer that you write down goals you cause the words to manifest into reality. “WRITE THE VISION” (Habakkuk 2:2) I can’t say this enough. Write down your goals and dreams and speak it into existence. With that being said I’m going to jump right into my 2016 Beauty, Fashion, and Lifestyle goals.

GROW MY HAIR OUT

This year I did everything with my hair. I cut it, flipped it, shaved it, twisted it, weaved it, you named it. You can read about that here. This year I want to really grow my hair out. I’m talking back to back out to my 2010-2011 levels where my fro was just ridiculous. I’m going to be focused more on making sure my hair is healthy instead of worrying about a specific style.

GET CONTROL OF MY WEIGHT

Okay, every year I say that I’m going to lose weight and every year I try and then decide that sitting on the couch is more comfortable. I’m not saying I want to get back down to my college weight or back to the weight of my young tenderoni days, but I’m saying I gotta do something. These is the heaviest I’ve ever been and I’m claiming it to be the heaviest I’ll ever be. This year I want to make a more conscious effort to stay out of restaurants and work out at least, 2x-3x’s a week.

BUILD A CAPSULE WARDROBE

A couple of weeks ago I seriously cleaned out my closets. It went from a closet being so stuffed that I could barely find what I was looking for to a closet that could easily hold my entire wardrobe on one bar. Yea this was a serious clean out. I couldn’t fit half of what was in there (which is why I need to get control of my weight) and I didn’t wear maybe 75% of what I had. In 2016 I’m going to focus on creating a capsule wardrobe, with key items that can be worn interchangeably throughout the whole year. I haven’t decided on a particular number of clothing pieces or a color scheme but I plan to share all of that with you here so stay tuned.

NOT MAKE IT TO VIB ROUGE AT SEPHORA

As an ex-sole beauty blogger, I can’t help it. I love makeup. Even with being Broke on Purpose I still somehow managed to make it to being Rouge at Sephora. I still can’t figure this out. Admittedly I didn’t buy even a quarter of the amount of makeup that I bought last year but I did indulge heavily in skincare as well as lip products. This year I really don’t think I’m going to buy any new makeup products other than re-upping on items that are already a part of my everyday beauty routine.

Of course,  I have huge plans for Broke on Purpose and doing more to really build my brand, but I think these four kind of sum up what I want for 2016 a far as Beauty Fashion and Lifestyle goals go. Thank you so much to those who subscribed to the Being Melody Newsletter in 2015 and welcome to all the new readers and subscribers in the year to come.
