You guys already know that I am a huge Make Up For Ever fan. Their HD foundation stays in heavy rotation within my makeup routine, but as the weather got hotter, I had to sit it to the side and start using products that were a little less heavy. I’m sure you all feel my pain when it comes to these seasonal foundation woes. Make Up For Ever recently reformated their Water Blend Foundation and I was sent over three shades that ranged within my complexion to try out.

The Make Up For Ever Water Blend foundation is a reformulation of the Pro Makeup Artist Face & Body Foundation. It’s going to give you the same results, but this time with an upgraded formula. I remember trying out the Face and Body foundation when at the Make Up For Ever Boutique but at the time I was looking for something that would give me a bit more coverage, so I passed.

Here’s the breakdown of what you need to know about the Water Blend Foundation:

Hydrating: 80% of the formula is purified water that is infused with vitamin B5. This means this foundation is going to be more on the sheer side.

Waterproof and & Transfer-Proof: One of my favorite things about the MUFE line is that they have so many waterproof products. This is the brand you turn to when that cute guy wants to take you swimming on the first date.  The coated microfine pigments within the foundation bind tighter to your skin and are guaranteed waterproof and transfer-proof.

Easy to Apply: This isn’t your usual liquid foundation. It’s a water-gel texture that is super hydrating to the skin. It honestly feels like I’m just applying a cool gel to my face when I’m using it. It drys down to a light weight soft finish. Make Up For Ever Water Blend Foundation in Y445 Y455 and R430 shades Medium Brown Skin www.beingmelody.com (2 of 2)

From L:R Y445, Y455, R430

There are 20 shades in all. Remember Y stands for Yellow undertones while R stands for more pinky/red undertones. The shade that fit me the best was Y455 as it pulled more gold than Y445. Make Up Forever also offered up some pro tips on the best way to apply the Water Blend Foundation and I’m sharing them with you all just in case you decide to head out and grab this foundation for yourself.

For best results moisten a beauty blender or ellipse sponge with two sprays of Mist & Fix or a small amount of Step 1 Skin equalizer Hydrating Primer ( I opted to use the Mist & Fix). Start from the center of the face and work outward in a gentle press and roll motion with the sponge. Below are pictures of me rocking Y455.

Overall Thoughts: While I did have some oil breakthrough by mid day (perfectly normal) I have to say that I like the way this foundation wore. It stood up the to heat and humidity very well, and I was able to wear a white shirt without having it covered in makeup by the end of the day. I felt it did okay over my Step one equalizer in caramel which I use to color correct my skin disorder though I may need to add a concealer on top of that to completely conceal it.  I’ll probably be using this product more throughout the summer months as opposed to some of my medium consistency foundations.

The Make Up For Ever Water Blend Foundation retails for $43 and is available at Make Up For Ever Boutiques and Makeupforever.com. It will be available starting July 22 on Sephora.com and August 5th in Sephora stores.
